What to Include in a Wedding Album (Must-Have Shots & Order)
A wedding album should include the full arc of your day — getting-ready details, the ceremony, portraits and family groups, and the reception — woven together with the candid moments in between. Lay them in chronological order so the album reads the way the day unfolded.
The must-have shots
- Details: rings, dress, shoes, flowers, invitations.
- Getting ready: both of you, with the people who were there.
- Ceremony: the processional, the vows, the first kiss, the recessional.
- Portraits: the two of you, the wedding party, and family groups.
- Reception: the entrance, toasts, first dance, cake, and dancing.
- The exit: the send-off that closes the story.
The order that works
Chronological almost always wins. Start with details and prep, move through the ceremony and portraits, then the reception, and finish with the exit. Open each section with a strong image so the album has a clear rhythm.
What to leave out
A tight edit makes the strong photos shine. Cut near-duplicates, blurry frames, and unflattering candids — keep the single best frame from each moment.
